The Olive Branch is the Palm Beach Institute's extended care residence for men and women that provides continuing treatment for our substance dependent clients. Clients continue to be monitored daily while enjoying freedoms as they begin the gradual community reintegration process.
This level of care involves highly trained counselors to help motivate the clients and keep them engaged in their program of recovery from drugs and alcohol. During this program the clients are shown healthy ways to address primary concerns that play a major role in chronic relapse such as anger, father/son, mother/daughter relationship issues, aggression, emotional isolation, spiritual disconnection, sexual issues and eating disorders.
The clients are given a full schedule to keep them busy and help them to recover. Each day they begin their morning with group meditation and continue to the Palm Beach Institute’s Intensive Outpatient Program or to a Big Book or Step Study Group. The clients engage in relapse prevention classes to help them understand what their problem areas and triggers may be and how to avoid common pitfalls of early recovery.
Clients will also participate in gender-specific groups. We believe this will help males break through the stereotypes of men suppressing their feelings. Women, at times, feel more comfortable discussing certain emotional and personal problems with female only groups.
Clients are given individualized and group work tailored to their specific treatment plans so they may remain engaged in their treatment throughout the day.
The Olive Branch residences are comfortable, with many amenities including transportation to 12-Step meetings, gym training and other recreational activities. In addition to addressing gender-specific issues, we support our clients in achieving academic or vocational goals through life-skills training and support. We, at the Palm Beach Institute, understand that many clients need additional services and we are there to be of service. Our chef offers weekly cooking classes to all the clients in our Extended Care Program. We understand that recovery is all encompassing and having a healthy balanced diet helps to achieve that goal.
Clients are encouraged to find a 12-Step sponsor within the first two weeks of coming to The Olive Branch. We understand that sponsorship is an integral part of recovery. Clients are taken to meetings so they may find a sponsor. We also encourage clients to build a network of sober supports in the recovering community to become part of the fellowship their 12-Step program.
While residing at The Olive Branch, the clients take part in the Intensive Outpatient Program as well.
